Summary

This project was about rebranding an education consultancy to better connect with international students and their parents. The challenge was to move away from a clunky, overly descriptive name and create something simple, inviting, and trustworthy. Our strategy centered on understanding how their audience searches for education abroad and finding keywords that balance clarity, friendliness, and SEO value. The result, Start Study, captures the spirit of beginning an academic journey and positions the brand as a launchpad for student success. The full case study goes into more detail.

Full Case Study

The consultancy originally operated under the brand name “Study in University,” with the matching domain www.studyin.university. But as they prepared to expand, they wanted a rebrand that felt more creative, memorable, and relevant to their values. They had already experimented with some names (including AI-generated options) but ran into repeated roadblocks: names that were too plain, unavailable for trademark or domain registration, or simply not resonating with them.

When they approached us, the client emphasized that they needed a brand name that students and parents could both trust and connect with. They were leaning toward names with words like “smart,” “Czech,” “bridge,” “go,” “hello,” or “link,” but were also open to fresh creative directions. On top of that, trademark and domain availability were essential, and since English was not the first language of their audience, the brand name had to be clear and easy to grasp.

Our first step was to identify what style of naming would truly resonate with their audience. Through our discussions, we realized the client preferred simple, real-word names, which lined up perfectly with our research. Students (and their parents) in their target market were more likely to respond to names that were straightforward, friendly, and easy to translate across languages.

We built a keyword framework divided into three clusters: Value Terms, Education Terms, and Travel Terms. This gave us the building blocks to combine concepts in a way that felt natural and aligned with the consultancy’s brand promise. Each shortlisted name was tested for trademark and domain availability. We also factored in SEO competitiveness, focusing on strategic keywords that could improve visibility and reduce search competition.

When presenting to the client, we shared both our creative ideas and the research framework behind them. This made the process transparent and helped the client see how each name conveyed their core idea: being a trusted guide and partner in education abroad.

Finally, an internal survey was conducted on the shortlisted names.

Nb: We explore multiple naming strategies for each naming project. This case study only shows the strategy behind the final name chosen by the client.

The final selection was Start Study. It feels like an invitation and a call-to-action, encouraging prospective students to take their first step toward studying abroad. The name reflects momentum, opportunity, and guidance, while reinforcing the consultancy’s role as a launchpad for success. It is short, clear, and instantly understood, even for non-native English speakers.

Our SEO-conscious approach also paid off. The client’s domain, startstudy.cz, is ranking well on Google for searches related to studying languages in Prague. While SEO depends on many factors, having a name that’s instantly understood and easy to search certainly helped them gain visibility.
